Wisbech Castle remains in the ownership of Cambridgeshire County Council and is operated as a Professional Development Centre alongside centres at Godmanchester and Cambridge.
In this role, Wisbech Professional Development Centre provides a meeting and training venue for County Council based organisations and those from the private sector. It is also used as a Tuition Centre for the local education authority and also attracts visiting French students each year, enabling them to extend their language skills with tuition and local visits.
Mindful of its importance as an historic town centre site, the Castle provides community based activities throughout the year, being closely involved in Rose Fair, Heritage Weekend and Wisbech's Christmas Market
The rooms can be hired for private functions and the Pump Room provides a useful exhibition venue.
As an historic, authentically furnished building, Wisbech Castle also provides a venue for visiting schoolchildren to participate in a number of activities, principally based on the Victorian period. Educational provision is undertaken by Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service who are currently looking at ways to extend school visits to the premises
Wisbech Castle is also a licensed civil ceremony venue and provides facilities for marquee receptions in the garden
