The Fendick Room

Named after the last occupant of the property, The Fendick Room is the Castle's principal Reception Room.

It's principal feature is the chimney piece which was removed from Thurloe's Mansion and installed by Joseph Medworth the builder of the house in 1816.

The two portraits are of Miss Harman and her brother who ran a school for young ladies in the Castle during the latter half of the 1800's. Previously Rev Holmes, of the Independent Chapel in Castle Square ran a school for young 'gentlemen'.

The right hand recess originally had a connecting door to further study size room
